The Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has again invaded the residence of the former minister of aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode..........

The statement reads: “Earlier today, the EFCC invaded the residence of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode even when he was still in their custody. What miffed us most was their mode of operation which was forceful, provocative and dangerous as they wielded their guns with needless threats. The worst is that the invasion was without a warrant as they forced their way in, and after terrifying all the staff at home including the infant, they whisked the laundry man away even though he was later released.
“This is the fourth time the EFCC operatives would be invading Chief Fani-Kayode’s residence in just under a week. We condemn this act of executive lawlessness, harassment and intimidation. Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has served this country even at the highest levels and he deserves some courtesy.
“We call on the EFCC to endeavour to carry out their functions within the ambit of our laws and stop brazenly  betraying the fact that Chief Fani-Kayode is under persecution. The world is watching!”

President Buhari at a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister David Cameron

PM Cameron was caught saying that Nigeria is a ‘fantastically corrupt’ country. This comment has been met with harsh criticism.

Presidency while reacting to British prime minister’s statement suggested that Cameron had been referring to Nigeria’s past notoriety for corruption during the leadership of his predecessors. However, later President Buhari agreed, saying that the country is fantastically corrupt.

Buhari with Prince Charles and Archbishop of Canterbury in London
Buhari, speaking on May 12 at the anti-corruption summit, said:
“Corruption is one of the greatest enemies of our time. It runs completely counter to our values, as it rewards those who do not play by the rules and also creates a system of patronage where the resources are shared out by a small elite, while the majority are trapped in poverty. When it comes to tackling corruption, the international community has unfortunately looked the other way for too long. We need to step up and tackle this evil. This charge sums up why we are gathered here today.”

PMB Kerry

President Buhari and the secretary discussed the challenges facing Nigeria’s economy and U.S. interest in encouraging private sector investment, which will be enhanced by the success of economic reforms being pursued by President Buhari.

A man identified as Remi Adelaja has gone on the run after he allegedly killed his elder brother, Mayowa Adelaja, during a fight. The incident happened on Monday, May 8, 2016 at Adelaja Street, off Afariogun, Oshodi in Lagos.
It was gathered that the immediate cause of the fight was a mere torchlight.
A neighbour, who spoke on condition of anonymity, however said the duo may have had a protracted problem.
The source said that the suspect, a widower, had brought his five children to his father’s house after he lost his wife, a development the deceased was said not to have supported.
The source added that when the deceased asked the suspect about the torchlight, he (the suspect) claimed he had no knowledge of the missing torchlight.
“The issue resulted in a quarrel because the two of them have been having problems.
“The next thing they started fighting. The elder brother used iron rod to hit the younger one twice and the younger one ran inside, brought a knife and stabbed his older brother on the stomach.
“That was how he fell down and died on the spot. Everyone ran only his mother, a bread seller, was left,” the source said.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dolapo Badmus confirmed the incident.
Badmus, a Superintendent of Police (SP) said the case is under investigations and it would be charged to court as soon as the police completed its investigations.

KANO – President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to do everything possible to keep Nigeria as one.
President Buhari who bore his mind at Emir’s Palace, Katsina during the beginning of his two day official visit to the state Monday, recalled with nostalgia colossal lives that were lost during the Nigerian civil war all in a bid to ensure our unity. “I always say the civil war was fought for the unity of Nigeria because as at the time we have not even discovered oil let alone enjoying it, and we must not also forget that about two million people were killed”. MESSI SU[PPORTING ALTHLETICO MADRID

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has admitted everybody at the Camp Nout outfit wants Zinedine Zidane's men to finish the 2015-16 campaign trophyless

Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi hopes Real Madrid will lose the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.
The Catalan holders crashed out at the hands of Atletico in the quarter-finals, who then went on to reach the final at the expense of Bayern Munich.
But Messi does not bear a grudge against Diego Simeone's men and hopes they can beat the Santiago Bernabeu side.
"It is clear that the people at Barcelona do not want Real Madrid to win anything," Messi told ESPN.
"It would hugely please Barcelona if Atletico beat them in the Champions League final.
"What Atletico Madrid have done is great, it is not easy to beat them. They are a very tough opponent and [Diego] Simeone deserves credit for their performances."

GOAL
Barcelona's hopes of capturing a second successive treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League ended following their defeat against Atletico and Messi now wants the domestic double to make it a successful season.
"The Champions League elimination was a major blow. We were much better than Atletico in the first half and could have decided the tie there. It was then very complicated in the return at the Vicente Calderon," he added.
"It would be great if we can end the season by winning the Liga title and the Copa del Rey. We realise it will not be easy, though. We have two finals left, one in La Liga and one in the COPA
AFTER LOSING TO SIMEONE CLUB, THE BALLOND'OR  5TH TIME WINNER IS NOT IN SUPPORT OF TEAM RIVAL REAL MADRID TO WIN ATTHLETICO MADRID IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL.............I GUESS THIS IS ALSO IN THE COMPETITION OF THE NEXT BALON D'OR CONTEST.............MANY A FAAN WILL BE IN SUPPORT OF REAL MADRID WINNING THE CUP BUT DIEGO SIMEONE MEN ARE NOT TAKING DOWN ANY CHANCES TO BIGGER TEAMS BECAUSE THEY ALSO BELIEVE THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO B E EUROPE'S CHAMPIONS.

EU referendum: BCC says businesses back Remain but gap narrows

The majority of business people plan to vote for the UK to remain in the EU but the gap with those wanting to leave has narrowed, a survey suggests.
The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) said 54% of 2,200 members it surveyed in April said they would vote Remain, down from 60% in February's survey.
In contrast, 37% said they would vote to leave, up from 30% two months ago.
Almost all of those surveyed - 90% - said they were unlikely to change their opinion ahead of the 23 June vote.
The BCC's acting director general Dr Adam Marshall said the gap had "clearly tightened".
"Although a clear majority of the business people we surveyed continue to express a preference to remain in the European Union, the gap between Remain and Leave has narrowed significantly in recent weeks," he added.
The UK's EU vote: All you need to know
UK and the EU: Better off out or in?
EU referendum issues guide: Explore the arguments
The BCC is a national body of 52 accredited chambers of commerce across the UK, representing thousands of large, medium and small businesses.

No impact so far

Larger firms and those trading with other EU markets were more likely to vote to remain in the EU, while those in "micro" firms with under 10 staff and those which did not export were more likely to vote to leave the EU, the BCC's survey found.
The majority of business leaders surveyed said the referendum had had no impact so far on various aspects of their businesses, including sales, recruitment and investment.
If the UK was to leave the EU, 35.9% said they expected this to have a negative impact on their overall growth strategy, while 36.3% felt it would have no impact and 15.9% said it would have a positive impact.

'Leap in the dark'

Union flag and EU flag
Britain Stronger in Europe, the official Remain campaign group, said the survey made it clear the majority of businesses wanted Britain to stay in the EU.
"Membership of the EU has made our economy more open and competitive, with British businesses able to access 500 million consumers through the single market.

"Walking away would be a leap in the dark. So it's unsurprising that today's poll confirms that British business is adamant that we must stay in the EU," said Britain Stronger in Europe executive director Will Straw.

GERMANY HAD EU RECOGNITION

Germany had EU renegotiation veto - IDS
Germany had a "de facto veto" over David Cameron's EU renegotiations, ex-minister Iain Duncan Smith has said.
He told the Sun the PM ditched plans in 2014 to demand an emergency brake on migration after Germany objected.
Downing Street said curbs it negotiated on in-work benefits for EU migrants were a "more effective" way forward.
It comes as a British Chambers of Commerce survey suggests most business people back Remain but the gap with those backing Leave has narrowed.
In other developments:
Leave campaigners have sought to expose what they say is the gulf between the goals Mr Cameron set for himself in his famous "Bloomberg Speech" in January 2013 - when he announced plans for the referendum - and the reality of what he subsequently achieved.

'On a lead'

Image copyright PA
Ahead of a speech on the EU and welfare on Tuesday, Mr Duncan Smith has made his most outspoken attack to date on the PM's attempts to negotiate a better deal for the UK in the EU, which concluded in February, telling the newspaper they had "failed".
The former Conservative leader, who resigned from the cabinet last month in a dispute over disability benefit cuts, described the concessions gained as "very marginal" and suggested that, in return, the UK had lost its veto on future fiscal and political integration within the eurozone.
"The EU knew that our veto was very powerful and we have given it away," he told the newspaper. "The reform failed. We got nothing on border control at all. We are now in a worse position than we were before.
"We have gone from wanting to lead in Europe to being on the end of a lead in Europe."
While being a "cheerleader" for the PM's reform efforts, he suggested any fundamental change on immigration was doomed from the start because Germany - which was regarded as generally being supportive of Mr Cameron - was opposed to anything which impinged in any way on rules on freedom of movement within the EU.

'Dropped'

GERMANY EU
He suggested that Mr Cameron dropped calls for an emergency brake on all EU migration from a speech he gave in November 2014 - setting out in broad details his reform demands - amid German opposition.
"I saw the draft. I know that right up until the midnight hour, there was a strong line in there about restricting the flow of migrants from the European Union - an emergency break on overall migration.
"That was dropped, literally the night before. And it was dropped because the Germans said if that is in the speech, we will have to attack it.
"The whole thing was shown to them. The Germans said from the outset, you are not getting border control. Full stop."
Mr Cameron told MPs last week that his renegotiation package - which included limits on access to tax credits and child benefits for new EU migrants, an opt-out for the UK from ever-closer union and safeguards for countries outside the eurozone - was substantial and an "additional reason" to stay in the EU but should not be taken in isolation when weighing up the broader benefits of EU membership.
But Mr Duncan Smith said the limits on in-work benefits would be "very complex" to implement and their impact would be limited as most EU migrants coming to the UK were doing so to find work not to claim benefits.
Responding to Mr Duncan Smith's claims, No 10 told the Sun: "The prime minister made clear at the time that the government had looked at an emergency brake but he decided it was not the most effective way forward.
"That is why he decided to impose restrictions on benefits instead to end the something for nothing culture."
